Resurrection

Universal Studios has optioned Eli Stone creator Marc Guggenheim’s current comic book Resurrection for further development. The book follows the trials of a group of human survivors who aim to take back earth after a successful alien invasion has crippled the planet. Resurrection is published by Oni Press, one of the largest independent producers of comic books right now, a company that has also slowly been moving into the motion picture business. Oni titles Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Leading Man are both slated to go into production. Scott Pilgrim will star John Cena and be directed by Edgar Wright.

Guggenheim has worked on such diverse projects as Wolverine, CSI: Miami and Brothers & Sisters. No further word yet on this project, though admittedly it sounds pretty freaking sweet. I’m all for alien invasions, gritty resistance, and futuristic apocalyptical ass-whupping. Color me Sunburst Orange. (Thats the Crayola color of pure happiness.)
