MTV and Mr. Abaius have been caught canoodling with the Twilighters, but exactly what part of "the horror community" has been giving Twilight love?

I love the books.. And i read someone say it was anit-femenism... I DONT THINK SO.. Bella is described as a weak person in the outside, but siriously, knowing taht she could be killed by her love and by her bestfriend anytime? Thats a strenght right there.. I MEAN yes, its called love, but if she was as weak as she seems to be she would have survived.. I mean, have ya read breaking Dawn.. Sure, she becomes Super Strong once she is turned into a Vamp. But, before that.. She was having a baby that was surely gonna kill her, she was going through hell by such a hard 1 month pregnacy... And siriously, she made it, how could you say she is not strong.. Of course we are all thinking of her as weak as she broke her hand once she punched a werewolf in the face.. But, when you come think about it, imagine what you would do if the love of your life tells you he is a vampire.. Or your bestfriend turns out to be a werewolf and can kill you anytime he looses his temper.. What about her giving birth to a baby vampire who weights more than her??

Come one people She is Strong. and i think S.M showed taht woman have a lot of strength that we cant even imagine...

I just recently read the books. I went to the theater to see Indiana Jones and I saw the
poster for Twilight. The books had been reccomended to me by EVERYONE at school and
a few people online. So after falling in love with the poster, I bought all three books.

I was hooked. I picked up the first one, read it in a day. Next day read New Moon and
the next Eclipse.

The books were amazing so it'll be interesting how the finished product of Twilight
comes out. For one, I was horribly sad at the casting of Edward, Bella and Jacob. They're
the three main characters and I didn't think any of them were right.

But then I began watching clips like these and I've warmed up to them. Kristen has always
been a really good dramatic actress, Robert has that ability to dazzle you and Taylor is a
really good depiction of The Big Bad Wolf (as refferanced by Jacob in New Moon).

Of course the movie is never as good as the books but I'm excited to see how it turns
out. Most of my friends hate to read so they'll be seeing the movies with no prior
knowledge apart from what I've told them.

OK. i have to say that the movie really worries me cause, i had read the 3 books and the movie doesn't give the 50% of the things that make twilight so special and make it good, if you don't like the movie trailers, try reading the book it always so much better than the movies!!
At first i was disappointed about the movie but i got used to it.
thanks
so don't judge a book by the movie haha!

I love love love the book series. But some aspects of the movie worry me. Sometimes it seems like Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Bella is bad. And the dialogue sometimes seems weird (in a clip the dialogue seems soooo off). But i'm hoping that those are just bad clips.

okay well first of all,
im soooo excited to see this movie.
and second,
the person who said that bella is weak, well shes not. shes seems weak because obviously the vampires are soo strong, so how can she compare to them.
and before anyone starts dissing the books or the author, maybe they should try to read it first.

i think the problem with the trailers is that they seemed to be put together just to satisfy the fan's cravings for more of "twilight the movie". It may be low budgeted because it's not produced by a major motion picture giant but I hope the story itself will sell the movie. I have faith in Catherine in making it the best movie it could ever be!

I think we should all just wait until the film comes out AND then start bitching about it but obviously the ads of how the film is created is enough to bitch about. Yes it MAY look corny or horror but its just snippets of the film. wait until you see the entire film to judge. I'm not saying dont have an opinion just don't bring other people down with it.

I'm one of those who strongly feel that the Twilight series should not have been
categorized as young adult material. Case in point -- I've already told my tween
daughter that she may only read Twilight when she is in her senior year in high school
and not any earlier, or better yet, when she's in college already. I feel that the series is
too 'grown up' for her -- i think she has to become more emotionally mature in order to
correctly process the various 'adult' themes and issues tackled in the series.

To add to these adult issues, I feel that the series is undoubtedly a lot more passionate,
intense and sensual that any adult romance novels i've read (and believe me, I've seen
them all, voracious reader that I am). Everyone who has read the books can surely attest
to this fact.

As for Twilight the movie, I like what I've so far seen in the clips and trailers. I've never
been a fan of Rob and Kristen, but I think that they are doing exceptional jobs in their
portrayal of Edward and Bella. One earlier post raised a question about how safe it is for
the studio to bank on their so called "stellar billings" -- I believe that they have much
more than that to offer the movie, and that is pure, unadulterated talent, something
that's already apparent in the clips and trailers released to the public. It's only proper to
manage our expectations of the film, something that Summit has been doing in saying
that they are making Twilight the Movie, not Twilight the Book into The Movie. It's never
easy to adapt a book into the big screen. There's bound to be a lot of changes and
adjustments to the story. And this is always inevitable when you change from one format
of expression into an entirely different medium.

I have full faith in this film's ability to stand alone and draw in people not of the rabid fan base. There have been countless interviews with all involved in the movie, and they are all fans of the books. They have a passion for the characters and they want to see them brought to life just as much as the Twilighters do. People from Summit can be quoted saying that they are making Twilight the movie NOT Twilight the book the movie, But their goal is the same as Stephenie Meyer's hope for the movie. They want people new to the story to leave the theater caring about Edward and Bella, to want to know more about them and all the characters. Summit is a small production company but they have made movies that people love, for example- Love in the Time of Cholera, P.S. I Love You, and Once. They have a new movie in production staring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, Summit is fully capable of making a hit movie.

When it comes to whether or not Twilight is a teenie-bopper love story or not, I would most definitely have to say that its not. Its a timeless love story, sure the main characters are teenagers, but the story is endearing. Doesn't one of life's greatest and most quoted love story talk place between two teenagers? Romeo and Juliet were the same age, but the world still idolizes their story. Does being teenagers make Edward and Bella's love less true? Is it just because their story takes place in modern day that they cant be capable of knowing true and everlasting love? So i must say that just because the main characters are teenagers doesn't mean that it is just a run of the mill teenie-bopper love story, its more than that. It's deeper and more complex than that. In my opinion, the only reason these books are classified in the YA section of book stores is because the characters are younger and it doesn't have the sex and language that you find in most books now days. If one dives deeper into the books you can find underlying morals and values in every situation brought up throughout the story. It questions humanity and showcases the struggle between good and evil right and wrong. And I have to say that I have full faith that Summit, Cathrine Hardwicke, and the cast and crew will bring all this to the screen and leave the audience wanting more.

So i must say that just because the main characters are teenagers doesn’t mean that it is just a run of the mill teenie-bopper love story, its more than that. It’s deeper and more complex than that. In my opinion, the only reason these books are classified in the YA section of book stores is because the characters are younger and it doesn’t have the sex and language that you find in most books now days.

I disagree with Sarah Awesome who claims that Bella's character could not carry the books. Bella truely is a heroine. She might not be physically strong, but she has such a strong heart that she is willing to give to another person. What better hero is there than that? In the 2nd book, Bella puts her life at risk to save Edward- how is that anti-feminist or weak? She goes out or her way to protect those she loves, one of the strongest female traits of humankind that is celebrated in the the Twilight saga like no other book I know. Those who claim it is anti-feminist, either haven't read the books, or don't really understand what femine really means.
As for loving the movies if you haven't seen the books? How can anyone know until they've seen them? I think if a person goes to watch them with an open mind, they will enjoy the storyline and action of the film. I think that knowing a person is willing to love without holding back is the true "catch" of the story and I hope that will come across in the film.
I'm a bit worried about the film because I know movies can ruin excellent books (ie Eragon).

I am a huge twilight fan and so far I am very happy with what I've seen so far. The
casting is great. The series is very much so a "vampire story that just so happens to be
about teenagers" when you are reading the book you don't feel that Bella is really an
average teenager just an average human. Which makes her obsessive interest for a
strange drop-dead gorgeous boy who, may be a vampire, increasingly interesting. How
it transfers on film is the main issue. Twilight has the greatest potential to be wonderful.
Screw it up and it has the greatest potential to crash and burn. Summit just needs to be
smarter about their promotion. The worst possible scenario is the movie ending up to be
too slow paced or cheesy, because the books are most definitely not. I love seeing all
these clips and things but I honestly don't want to see the whole movie before
December. I have faith in this movie. It doesn't matter if you see the movie before you
read the book. But you should be aware that you are missing out on the amazing
experience that Twilight offers.
