Wow, I agree. Honestly for a book character, bella was the biggest mary-sue in the world, as she got whatever she wanted through the course of the story and had absolutely NO emotion.

Besides, the book is only good to a select few- those being sexually deprived preteens. Way to go Meyer.

Jealousy makes you nasty - you can do better???? I'd like to see you try - hahahahahahaha!

You might not like the books or the movies - but short of bitching like the sad wenches you are - what else are you doing in your life? You cared enough to make comments about the books and movies. Not much else happening then, he????

Thank you!!! I had the same exact reaction, so reading your comment, I conclude, we're right. What year is this, who the hell is the costume designer, who plopped those bad Hammer Studios 60s/70s wigs on those actors. They look so awkward because they're clueless as how to pose dressed in bad Halloween costumes from a vintage shop in Dayton, Ohio. Honestly, did they work on the costume design for about five minutes, then think, we're done.
I'm one of those folks who had never heard of the books and I promised my assistant I'd watch Twilight. Love that potential gang rape scene. So beautifully realized, not a cheap lurid device at all. Great to present what is predominantly a teenaged female audience with images of the threat of gang rape and in the end what is a subservient Bella. Abstinence is one thing, it's retro and fresh, what is not retro fresh is female subservience, Bella ends that first film like a 50s housewife. Ick, that young women are identifying with her.

Well said..I am in the older age cataogory also. Sure the movie has its faults and what movie doesnt....but hey its a great book series that yes does lose some of its qualities in the movie but netherless it is a great movie and it has a huge following of all ages. I myself am eagerly looking forward to New Moon and will possibly watch this one about 60 times like Twilight. If we all liked the same thing it would be a very dull world. So the critics out there...your entitled to your opinion but don't bag out those of us either who love the books and eagerly await each one to become a movie and we wont bag you for your opinion.

I agree it is somewhat disturbing that the individuals who like this movie seem to be grossly lacking in their writing-skills and critical thinking capacity, nevertheless I think your critisizms of the costumes are a little silly. This is a FANTASY film, and hence it must create a fantasy world for its viewers. A great fantasy film provides an "escape," and thus must use "other-worldy" costumes that can add to the illusion that there exists an other world to escape to - one very effective way of doing this is to dress the characters in very dated costumes. So, personally, I LOVE the costumes and, as an actress, I would love to have the chance to wear costumes like that one day.

As for the topic of romance, you're right, obsession should not be glorified, nor should any concept related to the sickening "birth" seen that Jessica described. HOWEVER, I think our very jaded world is seriously lacking the reckless abandon that can make love so breathtaking - these movies seem to offer that reckless abandon. I think the reason why people, seemingly incorrectly (I've never read the book, so I can't judge), call this book breathtaking is because "Edward" (the main male character) seems to do what so few men do these days - fall recklessly in love. I think for somewhat uneducated or young folk the presence of this reckless abandon makes the book breathtaking. For the rest of us, it makes the book/movie difficult to stop reading/watching. I think while we might say that we can't stop watching/reading the book/movie because "it's hard to not watch a train wreck" (or something to that effect, as Jessica said above), secretly we know that we can't stop watching/reading the book/movie because we all desperatly wish we could afford to lose ourselves in our emotion the way these characters seem to.

Having said all this, I only watched the first movie, and even then I fast forwarded through most of it, so maybe I'm not qualified to comment. Maybe the farther into the story one gets the more disturbing vis-a-vis passionate the whole thing becomes. For example, if that beat-up-during-sex thing is true, then I think these books are downright dangerous for teens to read.

"Women are nothing more than self-less baby incubators"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've got to be freaking kidding me. If you think all women are good for is to be a "baby incubator" then you must have not been reallly in love and cannot talk about twilight until you have truly felt that way for someone.

LOLLL, the Twi-hards to the rescue. I am so sad for people who think these books are good, or "breathtaking" or that there's any sexual tension at all besides Edward screwing Bella so hard, when they finally do it, that she looks like she was beat up.

Oh, and then I guess it's "tense" when he uses his vampy fangs to cut open her uterus with his mouth. (Yes, that's in the book, and it's MESSED UP.) He has to do that, see, because the baby, who Bella wants to die for because women are nothing more than self-less baby incubators, is so vampire-strong that it breaks her ribs, spine, etc.

So you see, Edward HAS to free the baby. From her uterus. With his teeth.

And yes, this is in a "teen romance" book series. I'd say it was awesome, but it's actually more disturbing and wrong. Maybe Stephenie Meyer is confused about what "eating out" means.

Yeah, they're pretty ugly. I read the books because I had to experience the train-wreck first-hand, before the movies. For the record, they aren't very good, but then again I did finish the series so I guess they're like bad crack.

But anyway, these vampires are supposed to be kind of old-school and they live under some city in Italy and sort of "police" the rest of the vampires in the world. So kind of like a vampire Vatican, I guess, and also vaguely like a Russian mafia, as far as I can tell.

So maybe their outfits are supposed to be a play on the sorts of things a vampire Pope would wear and that's why they look so outdated.

These aren't exactly great movies though, so I don't expect much from the costume department. For one thing, the vampire baseball scene in the first movie is lame enough when you're reading it and imagining it, but I don't recall them ALL WEARING BASEBALL UNIFORMS in the book. Seriously, when I saw the clip of that for the first time, I laughed so hard I cried. If they had uniforms in the book, I blocked that crap out. So lame.

the dude that plays aro his forehead is to big and he is to old aro is described as a 30ish year old man whom is sweet and gental but will do anything to protect his family and the secret of vampires sheens is not good for the role but dakota actully was a good choice even though i myself was hoping for someone much scarier but i have to addmitt i kinda wanted to go cry in the emo corner when i saw her in costume i use to admire edward but since rob patterson was the actor i kinda have been icky about it kristen stewert is perfect for bella and so i jacobs charicter. caius's charecter is good becuase when i saw him i wanted to run to my mommie crying even tho my mommie thinks im crazy for having a crush on a fictinasl charicter (aro) <3 anything you want to say email me at mariajazzym@gmail.com i memorized the whole saga so i can answer anything and everything espcially on jacob and aro.
