Tropic Thunder Fakes You Out With Silly Trailers

This summer when you head out to the theater to enjoy the hilarious looking comedy Tropic Thunder you’ll get a bonus treat – fake trailers! An exhibitor got a look at the film and also a chance to check out some of the fake trailers. Rumor is there will be 3 trailers accompanying the film. One confirmed trailer is called Satan’s Alley and stars Robert Downey Jr. and Tobey Maguire. Cool.

Speculation seems to indicate that one of the other trailers may be visible in the official Tropic Thunder trailer. There is a scene were Ben Stiller, in a parka, guarding presumably two baby polar bears, has two large guns and asks “Who left the fridge open” in his best bad acting voice. Funny.

I’m all for fake trailers, they’re generally pretty fun. The really great ones can get turned into real movies (Machete), the bad ones can be ignored, while others may leave us wanting to gamble on them and wish they actually got made.
