Well not-a-lemming, at the time I had seen the first Transformers and thought it was total garbage. At this point I have seen the sequel on TV and I gotta tell you it just reinforces my original opinion for me. I thought it was total crap directed by a talentless hack who cares more for explosions than character and story. Bay may be a technical genius but he shows no concern towards the most important aspect to what a film is supposed to do, tell a good story. I think he would be better suited working on video games. I read some where that Hugo Weaving has only ever met Bay once and that Bay wasn’t present to direct Weaving in any of his performance. Wow that shows not only total disrespect towards Weaving but also total lack of care for molding a good performance. A good director works with his actors instead of being a douche to them. Like I said, total crap.

Have you actually seen the film? Don't you have to join the legions of 'Middle Americans' and see the film to actually form an opinion? I am from the UK and I saw the film the other night. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Is it a masterpiece? Not even close. Did I expect it to have a Tarantino script and Spielberg story telling? No. Did I suspend my disbelief and have a fun 2 1/2 hours with some friends and a bucket of extortionatly priced coke? HELL YES! Get a grip. Regardless of a films content, it's popularity is defined by the amount of people who see it (of course, popular doesn't mean quality). Just get used to the fact that films like this are going to be a hit, and it doesn't mean that those of us who go and see them are stupid – just easily entertained.

i thought the movie was good it sounds to me that this guy just jerks of to watchmen in his free time and wanted it to be #1, sorry bro didnt happen! From what i here 91 percent of people who scene the movie loved it, i guess you fall into the other 9 percent. Befor i didnt really care if it did good or bad i was just a fan, but after reading this and how you dont want people to watch it i hope it breaks alll the recods!!!ha ha ha You Suck!!!!!!!

I think the biggest reason people are going is A) they liked the first one and B) they just love transformers. It s childhood dream, to see big ass transformers fighting alongside real humans. When I saw this movie, it was with friends who I didn't even know liked transformers, so I understand your anger over its gross. That being said, the non-stop action thing sucks you in, and I loved it. For the record, I've seen all the films in the top 5, and Terminator Salvation.

When I was a kid, I used to take my Star Wars figures and show no mercy towards my older brother's original GI Joe figures; I used to take large rocks and crush my Matchbox cars; I used to build model tanks and then melt them with a magnifying glass (because that's how aliens do it, natch..).

Why did Transformers 2 do so well at the box office? Because it's giant robots blowing shit up, that's why! It's taps into some sort of primal, gutteral reaction that every friggin kid in America has done for ages.

We're Americans. And we like to blow shit up, and watch shit getting blown up.

This is the most enjoyable movie of the year I’ve seen.And I’m going back.
The action, humour, sound, pace all work for me. And oh ‘robots’ fighting with this much finesse, style and passion is thrilling to watch.

I rarely disagree with Ebert’s reviews but he was way off on this one.

Critics are ignoring what made Transformers popular to start with. It’s about robots fighting robots, and people aligning with the good robots. Babes and laughs put it over the top if you get the first two. As my brother complained, there was more plot in the first movie than every Transformers episode combined. He’ll like the second movie more than the first.

Indy4 was overrated by critics for the same reason. Indy4 about about the quest, Indy is old school, so the quest should never involve aliens.

It just shows how bad everyone’s memory is that remembers Transformers (Generation 1) as super serious and realistic. The movie is technically a giant kid’s movie that is supposed to bring out some warm memories for people who remembered the show and to sell more toys. If you are expecting it to be an engrossing psychological drama you should watch what the “Academy” likes and not what kids do… they could have gotten a PG rating but Michael Bay likes swearing and cleavage too much.

1) If you have watched it, quit your whining, because you’re part of the $200 million.

2) If you haven’t watched it, stop believing what critics have been saying, go watch the movie, and stop being such a lemming.

I was never going to watch Transformers because i wasn’t ever really interesed in it, but everyone’s bitching makes me want to go out and spend my 10 bucks to see it…

Thats too bad you feel so much hate for “middle America”, but c’mon now, you don’t go see Transformers because its going to make you feel the way you did when you first saw Citizen Kane.

Look at the world around us, the war, the economy, job situations and on and on. Thats why this is making so much money. We need to escape into a world that is so ridiculous we don’t have to think, just sit back and enjoy something for 2 hours.

People don’t go to movies because a bunch of snooty critics say something is great, they go because they want to laugh, they want to think or they want to escape. Simple.
