When it comes to the movies I see every year at Sundance I have only one complaint — some of them take a very, very long time to make their theatrical release. Take for instance one of my favorite movies of this past year’s fest, The Great Buck Howard starring John Malkovich. When I reviewed it, I applauded the performance of Mr. Malkovich as a washed up stage performer trying for one last grasp at fame in the twilight of his career. It features strong performances from Colin Hanks and Emily Blunt and enough simple, yet engaging story. But that was back in January when I reviewed it — since then we’ve seen nothing.

Until now. The folks at Magnolia Pictures have released their first theatrical trailer for Buck Howard, complete with a date of release: March 20, 2009. Have a look at the first trailer for yourself below and let me know what you think in the comment section. You can also view the trailer in high definition over on Apple.com.

  • It looks like a teaser trailer than a full on trailer although I wouldn't mind seeing the movie I love John Malkovich and he is one of those hard working actor who can't stop taking every script out there. I loved him in Burn After Reading as well. He should've gotten a nomination for playing an FBI agent being laid off and becomes pissed at life. I must say, nobody can be John Malkovich.
  • 2009. Sorry. I was getting a little retro there for a moment.

No problem...I was afraid I missed out. I usually enjoy John Malkovich movies...I loved him in "Burn After Reading" (loved everyone in the movie, actually).
