The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith has been due for another potentially Oscar-worthy performance for quite a while now, in my opinion. Since Ali in 2001, he has gone back to his big blockbuster making self and gone away from dramatic roles. But he did make some serious bank along the way, including Men in Black II, Bad Boys II, I, Robot, Shark Tale, and Hitch; all films that grossed over $100 million. This next film, The Pursuit of Happyness looks like it could meet us half way between big studio blockbuster and heartfelt under-the-radar gem. Smith plays a struggling salesman who takes custody of his son (played by his real life son Jaden) and begins a life changing professional endeavor. From the trailer I can tell that it is a film with a lot of heart, which should play out well… As for that whole Oscar-worthy thing, we shall see. Just click the pic to see the trailer.
