Tom Cruise to Play the Spy Game Again?

The Kurt Wimmer scripted spy thriller Edwin A. Salt is looking to tie down Phillip Noyce to the director’s chair. The film would star Cruise as the titular CIA Agent who is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. He would then, of course, put heel to asphalt and high tail it away from his pursuers while trying to clear his good name.
While neither name is yet set in stone, Cruise has stayed associated with the picture these past several months. Why should we be excited about this? Simple - these are two of the best in the game when it comes to spies. Cruise famously portrayed Ethan Hunt in three Mission: Impossible films and Noyce directed both Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Count me among the operatives enlisted to get the scoop on this flick when it finally meanders to theaters at a date that’s still confidential.

although I’m not a fan of Tom Cruise, I do agree with you: his Mission:Impossible movies, while totally different from the original TV series, were pretty good. that, combined with Noyce’s talent, should result in a decent spy flick.
