Today @ SXSW: ExTerminators, The Snake and New World Order
Movie News By Neil Miller on March 13, 2009 | (2) CommentsChances are that you are going to try and hit up the world premiere of Paramount’s I Love You, Man starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel this evening — especially since Jon Favreau will be introducing the film — but there is also that chance that you might not get in. Because lets face it, not everyone who is attending South by is going to fit into the Paramount Theater. So I’ve rounded up trailer for three other films that you might want to check out tonight. All three are different, all three are potentially very interesting. Check out the trailers and info below. For more of the best damn coverage from the streets of Austin, keep it locked to our SXSW ’09 homepage.
ExTerminators (10p @ Paramount)
ExTerminators is a black comedy centering on Alex (Heather Graham), a lonely accountant whose one act of rage results in her being sentenced to court ordered therapy. There she meets Stella (Jennifer Coolidge), the owner of a small extermination business who uses her car as a weapon; and Nikki (Amber Heard), a dental technician with the face of an angel and the mind of a sociopath. Together these women will form their own ‘silent revolution’, wrecking havoc on the men of Texas.
The Snake (10p @ Alamo Lamar 1)
A no-budget romantic comedy — without the romance. The Snake is a desperate cad who fixates on a troubled young woman, joins her support group, and enables her eating disorder. It only gets worse from there. Special note: Comedian Patton Oswalt has taken up the cause of this film and will be on hand tonight to introduce it.
New World Order (7p @ Alamo Ritz 1)
New World Order is a documentary about conspiracy theorists. The film is a behind the scenes look at the underground anti-globalist movement. This growing movement targets the annual Bilderberg conference, and the 9/11 attacks as focal points in the alleged global conspiracy.
