‘Thor’ Hammers Out Big Screen Ending Fit for Gods

How can Marvel Studios not disappoint Thor fans and audience members? Bringing character Donald Blake in and having Kenneth Branagh act is a good start.

For quite some time there have been questions over how the live-action film of Thor was going to be able to mesh with the rest of the films (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The First Avenger: Captain America) leading up to The Avengers film in 2011. Much of that comes from the Thor script that sets the story in his native land of Asgard. Thanks to IESB we are hearing that there has been an additional section added to the end of the script, one that would open the door for additional Thor chapters and also lend itself to the real world setting of The Avengers. Donald Blake has apparently been added to the end of the script, meaning the entire script won’t be set where the Norse gods roam.

So Thor fans will get the best of both worlds. The majority of the film will take place in Asgard and by the end Blake will discover the magical hammer Mjornir, which will eventually transform him into Thor in our world. But will Blake’s part be revealed in an epilogue scene similar to Nick Fury’s appearance in Iron Man, or will we see Thor make his way to the real world in search of his hammer? How much screentime will Donald Blake receive? This much is uncertain.

What is a certainty is that Kenneth Branagh will be directing Thor. Now we are hearing that he will also do his best Jon Favreau in Iron Man impersonation and act in the film as well. It is unknown as of now who Branagh will play, but I’m a huge Branagh fan so this can only mean good things for the film. Maybe he will even bring in Emma Thompson and continue Marvel’s trend of casting excellent actors.
