‘There Will Be Blood’ Is Not A Horror Film, But Paul Thomas Anderson’s Next Film Might Be

There Will Be Blood might arguably be the least talked about, but highest critically acclaimed film of 2007. With a title that makes it sound like a horror film, and the fact that Paul Thomas Anderson is known as “the guy who directed the worst Adam Sandler movie ever” by my friends and most of the popcorn loving public, There Will Be Blood doesn’t stand much of a mainstream chance against your newest favorite pregnant trendy-teen Juno or that air-tank toting psycho from No Country For Old Men. So how do you follow up eight Oscar nominations for your most current film that most people think is a horror flick? I guess the next logical step would be to actually direct a horror film.
The folks over at Bloody-Disgusting have reported that they have information regarding Paul Thomas Anderson’s next project, and the director is seriously contemplating a horror movie. I think it is great when directors show their versatility and take their swings at different genres. My favorite director, Stanley Kubrick, may go down as the greatest director to have a film in each genre but the young PTA might not be that far off. While nothing is for sure, I do think that this is a very exciting rumor.
Talking Point: Would you go see a horror film from director Paul Thomas Anderson?
