The Women of The Spirit Still the Best Reason to Be Excited

Scarlett Johansson in The Spirit

While I still cannot in good conscience recommend that you be very excited about Frank Miller’s upcoming adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, a featurette that debuted this weekend over at MTV does give us a few titillating reasons to pay attention. The featurette, which is titled “The Women of The Spirit,” focuses on The Spirit’s ladies. There is San Saref the jewel thief played by Eva Mendes, Silken Floss the evil personal assistant played by Scarlett Johansson, Lorelei the Angel of Death played by Jaime King, Plaster of Paris the assassin played by Paz Vega, Morgenstern the well-armed lady cop played by Stana Katic and Ellen Dolan, The Spirit’s one true love, played by Sarah Paulson. If you need any one reason to forget about all the terrible footage and the abysmal showing this film had at Comic-Con, I just gave you six. Check out the featurette for yourself below.

The Spirit hits theaters on December 25, 2008.

  • if this was done in the comics Miller would be praised for having reimagined the Spirit in his own style.
    but since it's film...

whatever, I'm cautious, but i'm gonna see it.
  • This movie looks absolutely friggin' terrible. Saw another trailer for it at QoS. My prediction:

    Terrible.

But the chicks are, indeed, quite hot.

I am gonna pass on this one as if it was a truck load of explosives careening down the highway. The smell of this movie is even tainting the good looks of the women in it. Unless there is a lot of nudity then I don't see this even making back the bank roll it took to make it.
