Wolfman-3

Universal Pictures sent over a note this evening that their upcoming horror remake The Wolfman has been rated ‘R’ for bloody horror, violence and gore. For fans, this should come as great news, as PG-13 horror films are becoming a tired trend. The remake, which stars Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Anthony Hopkins, has been moved around a bit — but with a solid February 12, 2010 release date in place and director Joe Johnston finished with the final cut, they are ready to unleash a major marketing push. And if you’re like me on this, you’re excited.

Part of the marketing for this film includes a very cool new website, a Universal Monster Legacy tour that celebrates 85 years of monster movies. It celebrates Dracula, Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Mummy and of course, the Wolfman. It’s a great little find for anyone who loves the original versions of these iconic monsters — which I do.

And finally, let there be Wolfman photos!

Nice, I'm looking forward to this more and more. Neil when is someone going to write a preview of 2010 releases.

  2. Neil Miller says:

Look for that in the last week of the year as part of our Year in Review. We're already working on it.

I'm really sorry to say this film is terrible. I attended a preview screening a few weeks ago and no one in the room was impressed. (At least no one I talked to which was a fair number of folks.) The acting it terrible and the script awful. I will saw that the cinematography was beautiful. The location shooting was incredible. (Presuming it really was location shooting and not CGI. Either way, stunning locations.)

It looks interesting, but Bencio has never been in a successful movie with him as a leading man.

Good acting AND blood and gore? I want to see it so badly it hurts. I do want to know one thing thought, what's up with the little troll?

  8. Lola says:

Was that before or after they got a new editor and put the all the violence back in? I really am wondering, not trying to be sarcastic.

The Wolfman, is a good movie and would like to see the movie in 2010. Upon his return to his ancestral homeland, an American man (Del Toro) is bitten, and subsequently cursed by, a werewolf.

  11. Jeff R Hall says:

Lola, I understand that I was at the screening that the editor was fired from. The cut that I saw was plenty gory. (Though I'm an admitted gore wimp.)
