Out of the arms of innocence, a young boy is taken by a serial murderer and forced to witness the unspeakable killing wrought by his new de facto foster father. With the Freudian Mother’s Day hitting theaters this year, director Stevan Mena’s Bereavement might be a nice, paternal counterpart.

The movie is the prequel to Malevolence (Mena’s first film) which shows the origin of the young killer Martin Bristol.

The MPAA got in a funk about the film’s poster, which featured a young child holding a deadly weapon, so they banned it. Whatever that means. However, it seems like they’re perfectly fine with the unnerving undertones of the trailer:

The movie sees a release in limited theaters February 18th, 2011.

Way, way before Father’s Day.
