For years in Hollywood there have been countless projects that have never made it past pre-production. One such project is an adaptation of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty“, James Thurber’s 1939 short story. Sure there was a film adaptation made back in 1947, but that was before anything important like the internet or eye-glasses were invented. Besides, Thurber himself rejected the film for how far it traveled from the original plot of his story.
Times have changed and Thurber’s story has been the interest of quite a few celebrities. It has been rumored that names such as Jim Carrey, Owen Wilson, Stephen Spielberg, and Ron Howard have been involved with the revival of Mitty. Each of the afore mentioned screen icons have tried to resurrect Mitty from the tinseltown grave without much success. However Mike Myers, the man of many faces and voices, has teamed with screenwriter Jay Kogen for a new take on an old story. Before this project gets off the ground though, the script will have to be approved by Myers who will be the talent who will play the various Mitty fantasy characters.
