‘The Rocket’ Gets an American DVD Release
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on November 29, 2007
Every year there are a few films that have me beating down the doors of various publicists (or is it publici?) They are films that will undoubtedly never be released here in the midwest — and ultimately could remain completely undiscovered by many of you, our faithful readers. Thankfully I have nothing better to do than keep a close eye on these films and give you updates along the way.
This year, one particular flick that has caught my eye is The Rocket: The Legend of Rocket Richard, from Palm Pictures. It is a film that digs at my immense love for the game of hockey, as it chronicles the life of Maurice Richard, a true hero of the game. The film also won 9 Canadian Academy Awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Actor. That Best Actor is Roy Dupuis, the man who played the iconic French-Canadian hockey star.
What makes me extremely excited about this film is the trailer, which we showed you a while back (click here). This appears to be a fast paced, respectful tribute to one of the legends of hockey. And as a fan of the sport, I could not be more excited. The DVD will release on December 11. Take a look at some of the production stills below.
There is also a cool online game that you can play over at Rocket-Movie.com, where you could win an autographed jersey.
