The Rise (and fall) of the Silver Surfer?
Movie News By Neil Miller on April 14, 2007 | (24) Comments
It appears that the upcoming Fantastic Four sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer is in a bit of trouble. That is, if you put stock in a report from Ain’t it Cool News yesterday. In general, my opinion is that info like this from Harry Knowles is quite reliable. The article tells of an early screening of the film that took place in Seattle on Tuesday. Allegedly the film was not received well. In fact, viewers thought the film was “sooo bad” they “felt dirty” and wanted to write letters to Harry to voice their disgust.
Item #2, if item #1 isn’t bad enough news for FF fans out there, is that Laurence Fishburne has been added to the cast as the voice of Galactus. This is still just a rumor, but it sounds reasonable. As much as I hate speculation, this bears mentioning. Could Laurence Fishburne be the downfall of this film? I think not. As much as some people out there (CinemaBlend’s Mack Rawden in particular) are up in arms about this, I don’t think it will matter. If the film is as bad as it is being reported, who cares who voices Galactus?
I am interested to hear the thoughts of the FSR readers. Please voice those below.
