If you think about it, The Dark Knight probably did pass Titanic, because when Titanic came out, the interet was new so people had to go to the movies to see it, now just look at it on the internet. So if anything, add another 100 million or so.

I think Defiance is going to be one of the greatest films of 2009! It is about Jewish refugees bound together in WWII Russia. The film is about a brigade that hides in the forest, ambushes Germans and survives until war’s end, eventually 1200 strong. More information about the film is on http://www.defiancemovie.co.uk/

In my mind I think it comes down to Transformers 2, Watchmen and Harry Potter (In that order) but it's not easy to gauge. There is a lot of potential marketing time for these movies yet, plus the economy may be so bad by then people will get tired of paying at least ten dollars for a ticket and just wait for the rental, so you never know.

I think Transformers 2 will be the highest grossing movie of 2009, with Star Trek, Terminator 4, Watchmen, and Angels & Demons coming right aftr that.

TF2- first one made a sh*tload of money on its opening weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened again.
Star Trek- You got the JJ Abrams fans and of course the Trekkies so there's your audience. Case closed.
Terminator 4- Men adore The Terminator films. Woman adore Christian Blae (his face, not his voice)
Watchmen- This will pull in the young crowd in just like 300 did.
A&D- The da vinci code was god-awful, but it still made money and people will go and see this

Its hard not to be impressed by the haul of TDK. Some idiots maintain that the movie is overrated. sure it is. millions of dollars overrated.

Does anyone else think TDK contributed to the current recession? can we have some of our money back Warner Bros?
