The Paranormal Activity Trailer: What Is It?

I have to give respect to the marketing team behind Paranormal Activity for creating a trailer that’s people’s reactions to a trailer as well as clips from that original trailer itself. The layers going on here are mind boggling.

It’s also nice to see 1950s style marketing come back in a modernized way. I was genuinely waiting for them to say something about women who are pregnant and people with heart conditions needing to leave the theater.

Check it out for yourself, unless you have a pregnant heart condition:

I can’t say I’m totally freaked out by the trailer, but I do love it when an audience gets that worked up. I also can’t argue with some of the pedigreed opinions they flash up on the screen from those who professionally love horror flicks.

For more on Paranormal Activity, stay tuned to our Fantastic Fest ‘09 coverage. Watch the trailer in high definition over at Apple.com.

What do you think? Did you pee yourself? Because of the trailer or a pre-existing condition?

Damn, not showing anywhere near me. Maryland is not the greatest place for movies.

    it looks alright
  • Hmm I hope there aren't like long parts of boring waiting but it looks fun!
  • Aaaaaannnnnnd we've come full circle!
It's kind of funny that the next logical step after advertising for Blair Witch, then Cloverfield, would be to come full circle to the exploitation trailers of the 50's LOL.

I'm actually kind of stoked to check this out. It looks like a really creative reason to do first person/documentary style camera work, and the sheet sequence was kind freaky. Should be good for a jump or two...

I actually peed myself due to a preexisting condition, however, the faecal incontinence was a complete suprise.
  • I really hope this movie lives up to it's reputation. I haven't seen a really 'scary' movie in a long time.
  • I loved Paranormal Activity. I saw Blair Witch when that first came out and it just didn’t do it for me. The whole cinematography part did not impress me, but I found that Paranormal Activity did it right. However some of my friends disagree with me and say that while PA was a good movie, BWP was a much better overall product especially given that it helped to establish a completely new sub-genre. We cant seem to come to terms so I made a little poll to show them what the rest of the world thinks, please take a minute to vote: http://www.dipoll.com/index.php?poll_id=555

Good story above, love to see all the press that PA is getting with such a small production budget!
