The Namesake: Do I Smell Oscar Material?

I stumbled on this trailer over at Apple, and thought it looked like it might be a great movie. It is pretty odd to see Kal Penn in a serious dramatic role considering his past films like Van Wilder, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, and Son of The Mask. Things look good with Indian born Oscar Nominee Mira Nair at the helm.
