The Karate Kid Trailer: You Focus Need More Focus
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 23, 2010 | (13) Comments
Sony Pictures has released the full theatrical trailer for their upcoming reboot, The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. And while this trailer does look like it might eventually turn into a movie worth of the moniker, I can’t help but feel as if The Kung Fu Kid might have been a more appropriate title for the film. Because everything is, in fact, kung fu. Not karate. Or something like that.
The story follows a young outsider (Jaden Smith) and his hard working mother (Taraji P. Henson) as they move to Beijing to start a new life in a “strange new land.” After run-ins with a group of local junior kung fu masters, the young man must put his trust in his schools janitor (who is not creepy at all) and learn the great martial art. The third act will no doubt end in triumph. Spoiler alert.
The Harald Zwart directed Karate Kid is in theaters June 11, 2010.
