You are correct, crying plagiarism is serious, but then again so is plagiarism. So if your friend didn't get the idea from "Burnt Souls," then I wholeheartedly apologize. I only say something because I know Desi won't.

By the way, the intro to "Burnt Souls" as I understand it, was a requirement for entry to Steven Spielberg's ON The Lot filmmaker competition back in 1997. So for most people it would seem unnecessary but in reality it was an attempt at creating a humurous spoof of the Twilight Zone intro made famous by Rod Serling, and by your comment, I guess he succeeded in the humor department.

Also the original film was trimmed down to fit into the parameters of that competition. With that said I feel we've both given this issue quite the work over. So no hard feelings, you have your beliefs and I have mine.

No, I watched the short (complete with its hilariously unnecessary intro) and read the synopsis.

I simply disagree with you. These things happen.

The Home's concept is about a man being rehabilitated in a hospice home that is causing its patients to die by tormenting them. Yes, there are dolls involved, but they are just one of the many creatures in the house.

It's also not very kind to cry out plagiarism without proof. It's a serious accusation - and I highly doubt that these filmmakers have ever even heard of your friend's film.

As for your thumbnail image comparison, words fail.

It never fails to amaze me when people try to sell someone else's story as their own. This is a blatant rip off of a short film titled, "Burnt Souls," posted on youtube and triggerstreet.com a couple of years ago. Even the description is almost identical. To check it out go to the triggerstreet and youtube links below. Tell me if I'm wrong or if I'm just full of shit. I think it's just a shame because I know for a fact this poor guy has been busting his ass trying to get a break in Hollywood as a filmmaker and has been getting the short end of the stick at every turn. And aside from one terrible movie he made called "Reptilicant," which he was conned into working on and has probably ruined any chance he ever had at being taken seriously as a filmmaker, he's actually pretty good. And as such I've become one of his number one fans. Well anyway, check out "Burnt Souls" and see for yourselves.
