It is true, this movie is not intended for families with young children. The Joker is a rated R character as is Batman by default of the world he lives in. The lack of rules maintained by Joker, a la the pencil trick, are not made for younger audiences. I mean, it even shocked me. The casual nature with which Joker dispenses with human lives, even if they are bad guys, is nothing short of horrifying.
Yet, much of The Dark Knight audience is expecting something similar to Batman Begins. Though dark in its own way, it has nothing on hand held camera footage, terrorist conjuring moments, that involves extending a person's smile. I'm just saying, that it caught me by surprise how Hannibal Lector-like The Joker was portrayed.

This is an outrage. I screened my own movie at my apartment this weekend and made over $340 million, but you don't hear the trades reporting that, do you?

Absolute wicked film! Heath Ledger and Christian Bale will certainly win Academy Awards, but who will be who's supporting actor? They both we're outstanding! I went to the Dark Knight opening day and was left in a semi-traumatized state when I left the theater. If you see one movie this summer let it be the Dark Knight.
