The Dark Knight Blu-ray Details and Cover Art Released

Today Warner Bros. finally announced some of the details around the December 9th Blu-ray release of the year’s highest grossing film, The Dark Knight. As expected, the release will include a very special 2-Disc Limited Edition set that will feature a Bat-pod statue along with the movie and supplemental features. For me, The Dark Knight could very well be one of those “game changing” Blu-ray releases. Having spent years working in consumer electronics retail, I can tell you that a few releases have come along that have spurred fans into adopting new technology. Back in January 2002, the DVD release of The Fast and the Furious had fans reaching for post-Christmas sale items, buying Playstation 2’s and $110 DVD players in order to see Vin Diesel and Paul Walker drive around in supped up Honda Civics. And just last year, the now dead HD-DVD format saw a major boost with the release of Transformers. For movie fans that have been holding out, mostly because of the continuing high prices of equipment, The Dark Knight could be the kind of release that pushes them over the edge.
