The Dark Knight Sets Another Box Office Milestone
Features By Maggie Van Ostrand on August 5, 2008 | (2) Comments
The Dark Knight has passed $400 million domestic in 18 days, a feat that took 2nd place Shrek 43 days to accomplish.
TDK is now #8 on the list of all time money earners and might, by the time you read this, have already moved to #7, passing Spider-Man’s 403.7 million. When that happens TDK will become the top-grossing comic-book adaptation of all time.
Warner Bros. expects the film to pass the original Star Wars ($461 million) in about two weeks, making it No. 2 on the all-time domestic list behind Titanic ($600.8 million), but that number will change when adjusted for higher ticket prices.
