First Look
The Curious Case of the Benjamin Button Trailer

All I have been hearing about over the past 36 hours is this “amazing” and “brilliant” trailer for David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button that is reportedly playing in front of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull this week. In fact, my good friend Alex at FirstShowing.net wrote a huge article calling the film “David Fincher’s Potential Masterpiece” all based on the trailer alone. Now, I have known Alex to be a giddy sonofabitch when it comes to most movies, but calling something a “potential masterpiece” and claiming it as “next year’s Best Picture” is something altogether ridiculous. With my usual brand of cautious optimism, I awaited the trailer’s appearance online. Thankfully, DailyMotion posted a version of it this morning, which can be seen below:
Yes, I know that it is in Spanish, but there isn’t much dialogue to the trailer either way. I am also aware that he quality of the video sucks — but get over it, we are being told that it is going to be a few weeks before we see an HD version online. My initial reaction, considering all of these factors, is that the film looks interesting. I am not yet ready to join my friend Alex in the claim that this is going to be a masterpiece by any means, but I am curious to see more. In fact, I am just as curious as I was when I was first alerted of the film’s plot, which tells of a man (Brad Pitt) who is born a butt-ugly baby that ages backwards with “bizarre consequences.” I don’t know about you, but the fact that the guy ages in reverse is bizarre enough to get me in the theater.
We will keep you updated on a better version of the trailer, so stay tuned. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is set for release on December 19th.
