The Babysitters Movie Trailer

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on April 16, 2008

Why does it seem that Wednesdays are always a day that make me cranky? I don’t know what it is, as this should be happening on Mondays, but for some reason Wednesdays are a drag. But, if you are like me and you need to not feel crabby or generally irritable, the trailer above my help lift your spirits. It is for an independent film called The Babysitters from director David Ross.

In The Babysitters, Katherine Waterston (Michael Clayton, Good Dick) plays Shirley, a high schooler who turns her babysitting service into a call-girl service for married men after fooling around with one of her customers. As you can see from the trailer, things start to go wrong rather quickly in this devious, twisted affair. John Leguizamo and Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon co-star.

It is a premise cut straight from the world of porn, with an indie touch. Make sense?

The Babysitters made its premiere last year at the Toronto Film Festival and is being distributed by Peace Arch Entertainment. It is slated for a limited release on NYC on May 9th.

(General filmschoolrejects site question) How can we view the older “hotoffthepress” articles without having to browse through the “movie news” “features” “opinions” “movie reviews” etc. tabs at the top of the site? Like once something gets bumped off the first page it sorta gets lost unless you go through every tab up there.

Why can’t they also be listed in a “page format?” (like a forum would have it)

@Carlos

That is a fantastic question. I think I am going to fix that. Or make someone else fix it…

Either way, we will figure that one out for you.

Wow! An Instant Classic!

Cole Abaius says:

Here’s a question: did they purposefully cast a not-that-attractive girl in the lead just to avoid looking too much like a porn movie? Would casting a cute, bubbly blond cheerleader instantly negate its credibility?

Brian C. Gibson says:

Yes! I knew Kevin would catch this eventually!
