McG Blogs a Little More About Terminator Salvation

Half of the filming has been completed for the new Terminator movie, according to a post by McG on the Warner Bros. Web site. McG writes:
We are half way through filming. Our teaser is in theaters and playing before The Dark Knight. You will see that this is a movie inspired by the first films, but is a true new beginning in that it takes place in the future.
All three of the previous Terminator films—and the recently released television series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles (okay, so the majority of the show)—took place in the present day when Terminators were traveling back in time to attack the Connors. Unlike all of these other Terminator installments, the new film takes place after Judgment Day. As McG writes, “The story of the movie is the ‘brink moment’ Reese always talked about.”
McG continues, writing:
From a technical perspective, we have set out to achieve a completely new visual style that hasn’t been seen before. We’re shooting the film on color stock but are using a method inspired by the Oz process which was developed at Technicolor by Mike Zacharia and Bob Olson. Basically we are adding three times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know today.
According to the post, the Terminator Salvation staff are extremely dedicated, working on the film’s story every night , putting the “story and character” of the film first in order to give the film the look and feel of a high quality independent. “The richness of the story is really coming out now,” writes McG. “It’s a Prometheus tale really, how creating life creates real responsibility - and if left unchecked, can be our undoing.”
McG also mention’s this weekend’s Comic-Con festivities, meaning that FSR will be the place to go for updates on the new Terminator film as the dedicated senior members of our staff sacrifice make the unconscionable sacrifice of giving up their time in order to bring you the latest and greatest from Comic-Con. We should have some good stuff to report.
