Quentin Tarantino has some odd interests. He makes odd movies, explores odd topics and makes friends with odd people. But then again, that is why we love him so. One such “odd” person is Japanese horror master Takashi Miike, whose Ichi the Killer is regarded in many circles as one of the most violent and gruesome flicks of all time. So it should come as no surprise that Miike’s next flick is a western that opens up with a cameo from the Pulp Fiction director.

According to Peter at /Film, in Sukiyaki Western Django (aka Sushi Western), Tarantino plays a “mysterious dude by the name of Ringo who appears at the beginning of the movie and fights with an unnamed Japanese cast member, who plays the lover of a female assassin disguised as a town dweller, to be portrayed by Momoi Kaori.”

While I am not too keen on Tarantino as an actor or Miike’s past work, the initial batch of images from the flick look pretty cool. Most interesting is one of a dude on a horse, carrying a huge gun. On that alone, I am down for this flick.
