Anytime a movie touts itself as a ‘modern day Clockwork Orange,’ there is reason to be suspicious. But out of suspicion, curiosity is born. And out of curiosity generally comes discovery of interesting cinema. One such interesting work is director Nicolas Winding Refn’s Bronson, which is premiering this week at the Sundance Film Festival. It follows the story not of famed actor Charles Bronson, but of a violent British criminal named Charles Bronson, played by Tom Hardy, who was originally sentenced to 7 years in prison but ended up serving over 30 years due to his propensity for beating the hell out of fellow inmates.

The first trailer for the film, which I found via the fine folks over at Cinematical, looks all kinds of wild. Trippy, gritty and filled with a big bald dude on a path of destruction. But don’t just take my word for it, check out the trailer for yourself below.

  • I'd buy that for a dollar.
  • he's does look like the guy from Robocop...to me he reminds me of my screaming Petty Officer from when I took Basic Training..
  • that movie looks sick!
  • Enrico Pallazzo
Well...at first the movie just looked kinda gay, then i seen the clip of the naked dude's ass and noticed the Pet Shop Boys in the background. so count me out but I'm sure this flick will do well on Castro St.
  • Not really wise to compare it to Clockwork. Another case of an overzealous critic giving the PR people what seems like great ammo, but will actually give the audience unreal expectations.
  • Looks real interesting, not sure about the Clockwork Orange comparison though but I will check this one out.
  • it's a Vertigo project they have a habit of getting large amounts of online buzz...considering their trailers don't reach theaters beyond the UK...one of the better UK studios they've released just as many bombs as they have great films...this looks great if nothing I'm watching this for both Matt King and Hardy...I'm still hoping their roles in The Real RockNRolla will be expanded after Bronson
  • This looks very disturbing, makes me wanna see it now.
  • Jacob Glogowski
BTW, the movie didn' tout itself as anything. I was the opinion of a reviewer.
  • Looks awesome, def looks interesting enough to go see it when it comes out...
