Sundance 2010: What to Expect From Our Coverage
Movie News By Neil Miller on January 20, 2010 | (3) CommentsGreetings from Park City, Utah. I’m already here and ready to rock ‘n roll at yet another Sundance Film Festival. Once again, we’re on the ground looking for the best up and coming films to kick off the year. It’s quiet here now. All of the bloggers and journalists and folks in black are still packing in their respective cities, getting ready to descend upon this quiet mountain getaway, for what is without a doubt the essential American film festival experience.
Personally, I’m a fan of getting into town a few days early. It allows me to stretch my legs and buy some protein bars before the local Albertson’s is ravaged by the supplement-engulfing populous of Hollywoodites. I will be glad to see them, as it once again means the fest is underway. But for now, it’s nice to be able to get a table at a restaurant on Main St. It also gives me a chance to get into the Sundance mode, and with that comes my plan for coverage. It will take the work of both myself and FSR critic Robert Levin, who will be here to help, but I believe we’re going to bring you some cool stuff.
Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect from our coverage of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival:
Preview: The 13 Must See Movies of Sundance 2010
Tomorrow afternoon I will be unleashing my annual list of must-see movies. As you may remember from past years, I’ve become mostly adept at predicting some of the more interesting movies ahead of time. But to be honest, its all about the films that to which I’ve taken an interest. The films I’m personally looking forward to, mixed with the ones that everyone will probably be Tweeting about. Stay tuned for that.
Reviews
The most-read part of our coverage is always our reviews. Other websites Tweet their reactions. I do that. Other websites write reviews. Mine are dangerously good (in my opinion). All-in-all, you will be guaranteed a large assortment of reviews, as we traditionally review more movies than other blogs. I don’t like to make bold statements, but there it is. We’ll see.
Video Blogs and Interviews
Once again this year, I will be doing sporadic video updates using my FlipCam and cornering various celebrities, notable movie bloggers and random people on the street. It is likely that this will get me punched. That is, if Colin Farrell is here. He’s a ruffian, what can I say? Look forward to some awesome ‘day in the life’ footage… I think.
Where to Find Our Coverage

Work with our Sponsor, G-Technology
As you may have heard, heading to Sundance for two weeks isn’t cheap. In fact, in the economy it would be almost impossible to make the trip without a little help. And since we at FSR don’t have a sugar-momma (though, we’re taking applications), we had to find a sponsor. We’ve partnered up with G-Technology from Hitachi. They make harddrives, and pretty wicked ones at that. If you’re an aspiring filmmaker, you might want to check them out. We’ll be giving them some shout-outs here and there. We appreciate them helping us get out here to Park City so that we can rock you with great Sundance coverage. The least we can do is play around with their harddrives and hang out with their spokesperson Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Here are a few places where you can find G-Technology’s Sundance stuff:
