In today’s edition of our newest column, Stuff You Need — which is a close cousin to our now defunct feature Officially Cool — we are going back to the topic of Trek. As if we haven’t talked enough about the new Star Trek movie — we’ve covered it, reviewed it and even showed you a bunch of cool desktop wallpapers. And now we’ve got our eyes on the model Enterprise from the folks at Entertainment Earth.

This is a faithfully detailed, scaled model of the USS Enterprise, exactly as it appears in the movie. It features lights and sounds from the film — hopefully the same awesome booming sound of the ship going into warp speed that I raved about in my review — and it comes with a presentation base that attaches to the lower hull and allows you to actually change the ship’s position. It requires 3x “AAA” batteries (not included). Personally I’ve been looking for a little replica of the new Enterprise and I may just pick one of these up for the ole’ Reject HQ. Unless someone can suggest a better one…

For more on this model, head over to Entertainment Earth.
