Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Trailer Leaked
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on April 12, 2008

Here is a little something that will hopefully brighten up your weekend (and if you live in Ohio, as I do, you will need some brightening — it is awfully dreary out there.) One of our fantastic ninja rejects in the field just sent over word that the trailer for George Lucas’ upcoming animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been leaked online by a polish distributor. The quality isn’t that great, but the video is certainly legit. Have a look-see for yourself below:
Video has been removed at the request of Warner Brothers
Check out the Official Version of the trailer HERE
Honestly, I would love to find and post a better version, but using the YouTube version saves us the time and effort of having to deal with taking the damn thing down when WB finds out that it is on the web. And that would just cramp my weekend, which isn’t cool.
Update #1: I have successfully allowed this to cramp my weekend, just for you… The video has been resurrected above.
Update #2: Sorry kids, but WB has asked that we remove the video, so we have done so. We will be sure to bring you the “official” trailer once it has been released.
The trailer looks interesting though. I love the animation, but I’m not sure if I’m sold on the whole “reliving the Clone Wars” thing — honestly, I had enough of that in Episodes II and III.
We shall see though. Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit theaters August 15th.

Sweet. Basically all-new footage.
I am a bit skeptical of this storyline involving Jabba the Hutt’s son (?!?!), but still have full confidence that the series will be at least 57% better than any of the prequels.

I’d rather relive the Luke Skywalker/Han Solo years.

Wow, I just do NOT like what I see!

Completely, utterly underwhelmed by this. It looks pretty weak and is a tired ass old story, already covered in those miserable prequels.

Yuk. Is it just me, or do all of the characters look like wooden dolls? Pinnocio style?
April 13th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Ugh. They took Genndy Tartakovsky’s awesome character designs from the mini-series, and made it into poorly done 3D models. Just.. ugh.
April 13th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
agreed… the style from the 2D mini-series are just not 3D friendly… jabba looks like a wooden 3d jigsaw puzzle. But we’ll all go see it *sigh*

Looks like a trailer for a videogame, which is probably what it should be

I will be looking forward to seeing this cartoon. I think it was a great idea for Lucas to leave the majority of the clone wars between episodes 2-3, just as its going to be fantastic to see what happens with the break between 3-4. If you follow the expanded universe you will know that the best starwars stuff is written by a wide variety of talent and keeps getting better with each year.
The entire basis of the tragedy of Darth Vader is the clone wars, how could you not get enough of it? Just like the rise of Vader, gimme as much as you can.

That looks really terrible. WIsh they just would have let Gennedy Tartovsky direct a 2d animated series. Would have been tons better.

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars will hit theaters August 15th.” This line makes it appear that it will be a movie, which so far as I know is untrue.

@Mashtato
This is a trailer for the animated film that will preclude the animated series in the fall. The movie will hit theaters on August 15, with the television show hitting TV shortly afterward.

This is awesome stuff. This is really visual and ILM have done a good job of nailing the final style of this project. I cant wait. The character modeling and lighting is amazing.
I just dont see why haters comment. This is the vision of a someones imagination. So tough for those who dont like it. Post a link back to your site lets see your great CG skills then. :)
Cant wait to see this this. Let the Clone Wars begin!

Those Clone Troopers are Australians!
April 14th, 2008 at 1:44 am
They’re from New Zealand actually… :-)

Don’t EVER call a Kiwi an Aussie . . . just don’t do it. Of all people, you should know, being a Kiwi yourself.

They should have brought this before the release of Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, it is useless know, The story is pretty much told…. they should concentrate a new era with LUKE and SOLO now.
April 16th, 2008 at 7:47 am
..I must agree…the animation looks realllly BAD!….I think the lucas ship is slowly sinking…blub…blub….
April 17th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Just perfect… I can’t wait to see that. Love the cartoonish style and love the ambience createt… Go Lucas go… Don’t forgot that what you see was createn in 3d and the idea is to bee cartoonish. Love it (sorry my English)

I love everything STAR WARS and the CLONE WARS is fascinating. I am so excited about
the whole series continuing the saga and delving into that whole world is what I think is
the coolest thing ever. I love the creativity and imagination and style of the whole genre.
I have read all the books all the comics seen all the animation and all the pics and of
course the movies and I still can not get enough. I have also all the games and plan to
continue to be a devoted fan until I die. I applaud the efforts of everything STAR WARS
let’s be realistic
it is by far the coolest thing ever with so many fans old and new. The one thing I would
love to see is a video game completely devoted to Coruscant to be able to explore the
whole city planet and experience the people and creatures and the technology and the
whole feel to being on that planet. maybe take a drive in a speeder and fly anywhere you
want maybe get a ticket or go visit the jedi temple or just even experience walking the
streets. Ok you all get the picture

I didn’t realize that this was still coming out I thought this project had been put on hold for some time.
