Star Trek: New Clip, New Photos and Comics on iTunes
Movie News By Neil Miller on April 9, 2009 | (6) Comments
Today brings us yet another round of cool promotional items for the upcoming Star Trek film from director J.J. Abrams. As you already know, we reported in from the film’s unofficial world premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse — you can read the full report here — and ever since then we’ve been buzzing about it like crazy. So while I really should be putting together my review for Observe and Report, I am here writing about some awesome Trek materials.
First up is a new film clip that shows the first time that Scotty (Simon Pegg) encounters young Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto). It also shows off some of the tension between Spock and Kirk (Chris Pine). Also, if you’re paying close attention, you will notice some of the interesting lens flare elements and visual choices made by J.J. Abrams and DP Daniel Mindel that Cole Abaius mentioned as one of the film’s strong points in his review. Clip courtesy of Apple.com
As well, the folks at DVD-Forum have uncovered a few new stills from the film, which can be seen below. My personal favorite is the shot of Kirk and Sulu parachuting down to the platform of Nero’s giant space drill. It gives you a nice idea of the scale employed in the film.
And finally, the folks at Paramount sent over word today about a set of prequel comics that have been released on iTunes. Titled Star Trek: Countdown, this four part series is supposed to give you a good lead on the movie. I’ll be checking them out, which means you should, too. Click on any of the four images below to check them out in the iTunes store.
