I'm amazed at this kind of thing. It has no plot, just general ideas. Reminds me of when Universal or whoever picked up the rights to the Asteroids video game. Why would you need to buy the rights to make a movie when the game clearly has no plot? I mean, if they can make Death Race and not call it Twisted Metal, surely they could make an Asteroids movie and not buy the rights?

Robot Chicken called this trend years ago… soon it'll be Hungry Hungry Hippos as an action pic and Chutes and Ladders as a Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson vehicle… yup…
