GI Joe’s Snake-Eyes — A Glimpse of Badass
Posted by Robert Fure (robert@filmschoolrejects.com) on March 21, 2008

Wow! This just happened, we’ve all of a sudden got our first look at something awesome from next summer’s GI JOE and it brings the awesome in spades! It’s a picture of perhaps the most bad ass ninja on Earth, the one man even Chuck Norris fears: Snake-Eyes.
This picture is everything I want from a Snake-Eyes costume. And I’m a big fan. When I first saw it, I thought it was so spot on that it had to be a fan-fake. But it’s not! The image has been popping up on the web, but perhaps the first was GI Joe fansite HissTank.com. Now that’s HISS Tank, a vehicle, for your non-fan boys.
Snake-Eyes will be played by actor Ray Park (Star Wars The Phantom Menace) and the character is a highly skilled mute assassin. We’ll have to wait and see how they develop his character in the film - research the backstory if you’d like, but it may be spoiler territory! The general history is that he is an ex-Special Forces vet intricately tied to uber-villain Cobra Commander. Any more than that may give away some cool stuff from the movie. Again, I love this costume!
Sound Off: What do you think about the Snake-Eyes character design?

My favorite character effectively created for the big screen, but I am still dissapointed with Duke (whoever that young punk is again)

The Snake Eyes costume looks great. Its soothing my hopes for the movie. I really don’t want to see a wack GI JOE movie. I don’t mind story changes to my favorite characters, I buy the “its a different media” explanation. But I do not excuse bad movies and there is no reason why my favorite child hood cartoon should be a bad movie. I’m really skeptical about this director. He hasn’t made any real good movies. The Mummy Returns was solid, at best, but not good. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

As cool as he looks, Ray Park cannot save this film. Look at the turd that was Michael Bay’s Transformers (I don’t care how much $$ it made, it was awful). Hollywood is poised to systematically dismantle all of our fondest childhood memories, yours and mine.
Boycott, boycott, boycott my friends. Demand quality and thoughtful writing/production as demonstrated in Iron Man, Batman Begins, Spider-Man 1&2, X-Men 1&2, etc…OR NOTHIN’ AT ALL. Maybe we’ll get a reboot like Bats and Hulk did after these crap first shots? Here’s to hoping…
I’M TALKING TO YOU: PARAMOUNT, WARNER BROS., UNIVERSAL, and so on and so forth.
