9-mtv-escape-full-clip

The continuation of the awesomeness that is Shane Acker‘s upcoming CG-animated adventure 9 is afoot today, with a brand new trailer coming to us by way of Yahoo Movies. As you may remember from our posting of the first trailer, the film follows the story of a rag doll named 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) who comes face to face with a bevy of enemies as he fights to protect the last remaining life force — a life force that was given to him by a scientist at the end of human existence. Or so the story goes.

When the first trailer hit the web, I called this potentially the “best animated film of 2009.” And while I’m still holding out hope that my bold and obviously overly-hyperbolic prediction will come to fruition, I will keep it in the realm of “most exciting animated film of 2009,” for sure. I know that Pixar is about to blow the roofs off of our balloon-tethered houses with Up, but there appears to be something really special in Shane Acker’s film — something possibly dark, potentially exciting and wildly imaginative.

Have a look at the brand new trailer below. 9 is in theaters on September 9, 2009.
