The continuation of the awesomeness that is Shane Acker’s upcoming CG-animated adventure 9 is afoot today, with a brand new trailer coming to us by way of Yahoo Movies. As you may remember from our posting of the first trailer, the film follows the story of a rag doll named 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) who comes face to face with a bevy of enemies as he fights to protect the last remaining life force — a life force that was given to him by a scientist at the end of human existence. Or so the story goes.

When the first trailer hit the web, I called this potentially the “best animated film of 2009.” And while I’m still holding out hope that my bold and obviously overly-hyperbolic prediction will come to fruition, I will keep it in the realm of “most exciting animated film of 2009,” for sure. I know that Pixar is about to blow the roofs off of our balloon-tethered houses with Up, but there appears to be something really special in Shane Acker’s film — something possibly dark, potentially exciting and wildly imaginative.

Have a look at the brand new trailer below. 9 is in theaters on September 9, 2009.

  • Excellent trailer, though I can't help but think that the "science turned on us omg!11" cliche is bad.
  • As long as that Coheed and Cambria song is involved, I'm always on board.

indeed. Coheed is f___king awesome. and i am sooo stoked for this movie. this and Moon are my 2 top movies to see this year
  • I agree that the whole "science turned on us" thing can seem a bit cliche, but the fact that Tim Burton is producing this movie puts me at ease. I have always been satisfied with anything he has had a hand with

This looks brilliant. The monsters looks original and genuinly frightening. The half mech-dolls head with red eyes, that's just awesome
