Sea to Become Deeper, Bluer, Sharkier, in Sequel

Posted by Robert Fure (robert@filmschoolrejects.com) on August 20, 2008

Deep Blue SeaIf you’re a real man, you’ve already pieced together that I’m talking about Deep Blue Sea 2, the recently semi-revealed Direct to DVD project from Warner Premiere. Yes, the same guys that decided The Lost Boys needed a sequel, but at least this time the original was still made within the last decade.

MovieHole.net indicates a source at the studio revealed to them that this will be their next project – so nothing official, who knows where this one will end up. All I know is that sharks are awesome but shark movies suck about 8 times out of 10.

Don’t expect any returning cast, as this flick probably won’t have much of a budget behind it. I’m just hoping for lots of big ass sharks taking bites out of little ass people. Also, boobies. Stay tuned for more. Reports of LL Cool J’s hat still being like a shark fin are unconfirmed. If you get that joke, I love you.

while the movie was awful, i have to give it props for the completely unexpected death of Samuel L Jackson's character, i was not expecting it at all

As one of the three people on Earth who enjoyed the first film, I welcome this sequel... even if it is DTV. Wonder if this will follow the rumored "Deep Red Sea" storyline back after the original film was released (which sounded stupid, but over the top stupid which I could enjoy. Something to do with a really tall hotel by the ocean that falls over after an earthquake and is half submerged and sharks come in. See? Stupid, but monumentally so)?

All I know is, they should hire the guy who penned "Shark Attack 3: Megalodon" to do this, if only for THE LINE making another appearance (those who know what I'm referencing would probably agree).
