The 25th Annual Ohio 24-Hour Science Fiction Marathon

The complete schedule of the 25th Annual Ohio 24-Hour Science Fiction Marathon has finally been announced. Several of the rejects will be in attendance, enjoying the full grindhouse experience of an all-night movie marathon.

The event, which starts at noon on Saturday, April 19, will blast off with the 1978 feature version of the Battlestar Galactica pilot. After 24 hours in a theater with 400 of your closest friends, things will wrap up with the Stanley Kubrick classic A Clockwork Orange.

The complete schedule is as follows:

10:30 a.m.: Doors open
11:15 a.m.: Classic trailers and shorts
12:00 noon: Official Countdown and Blast Off!
12:01 p.m.: The 1978 feature version of the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA pilot episode
2:30 p.m.: THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL - introduced by special guest Patricia Neal
4:30 p.m.: Midwest Premiere – SPUTNIK MANIA with Eisenhower, Khrushchev and Werhner von Braun
6:20 p.m.: The Danish outer space adventure JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET followed by 25th Annual COSTUME CONTEST
8:00 p.m.: Robert Wise & Michael Crichton’s THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN
10:30 p.m.: Columbus Premiere of the superhero mockumentary BIG MAN JAPAN
1:00 a.m.: The raunchy Indonesian rip-off LADY TERMINATOR
3:00 a.m.: John Hurt & Richard Burton in NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR
5:20 a.m.: Vin Diesel in the dark in PITCH BLACK
7:40 a.m.: STRANGER FROM VENUS - also starring Patricia Neal
9:30 a.m.: Stanley Kubrick’s stylish meditation on ultra-violence A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

Interstitial material includes the wacky short film SPACE BOY, cartoons, short subjects and the best & worst of vintage & recent sci-fi trailers! trailers!! trailers!!!

For those unable to brave the full marathon, or those who can’t get off work on the weekend, the 12 Hour SCIENCE FICTION HALFATHON, which begins at midnight Saturday, April 19 and runs until noon Sunday, April 20, will be as follows:

12:00 midnight: THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
1:45 a.m.: PITCH BLACK
3:50 a.m.: A CLOCKWORK ORANGE
6:30 a.m.: JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET
8:15 a.m.: LADY TERMINATOR
10:00 a.m.: Columbus Premiere of BIG MAN JAPAN

The scheduled times are somewhat approximate due to trailers, short subjects and general pandemonium. And, according to Marathon Host Organism Bruce Bartoo, “As always, due to the potential for cosmic calamity, titles and schedule are subject to change. Klaatu Barada Ohio!”
