Samuel Bayer is Having A Nightmare on Elm Street
In Development By Robert Fure on February 12, 2009 | (4) Comments
When I had a chance to shoot a few questions at Platinum Dunes producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller with my fellow horror hound journalists, of course the topic is going to turn from one killer pillar to another. In theaters this Friday is Friday the 13th and in theaters next next year will be a reboot of the Wes Craven created, Robert Englund starring dream demon flick A Nightmare on Elm Street. That is the film that’s next on their plate and they promised us they’d be releasing the name of a director soon.
As men of their word they have picked music video director Samuel Bayer to helm the picture that Wesley Strick is writing. Strick has formerly written Arachnophobia, Wolf, and Doom, while Bayer has directed videos for The Cranberries, The Offspring, Pat Benetar, The Smashing Pumpkins and Blink-182, among many others.
That’s all the info that’s floating around out there right now. When I sat with Fuller and Form, they couldn’t tell us much about other than Freddy will definitely have his glove. In a small bit of virtually unrelated trivia, I once worked for a guy who directed an episode of Freddy’s Nightmares, the terrible television show. Stay tuned for more when it happens.
What are your thoughts on this upcoming reboot?
