I really think Matthew Macfadyen should be the next James bond. He is perfect for the role and it would be such a delight to see him doing something like that! The only thing is that he would probably need to get in better shape, not that he is in bad shape, but he is not hunky like that. Anyways, that is what I think, can't get enough of that guy, he is so sexy, his voice is so irresistible and he is also very talented, he has that vulnerabilty about him that Bond has. Just saying…

I absolutely agree. Campbell has saved this series TWICE only to have all his progress wiped out by new directors. He'll probably be back in 10 years when this Daniel Craig run gets dry.

That being said I think Mendes could do a good job. He almost certainly won't try to replicate the “poor man's Bourne” handheld style that Marc Forester unsuccessfully employed. At least I hope so.

Mendes' relationship with Chris Cooper also brings the possibility of Cooper being the villain, which could easily give the franchise one of its more menacing villains. Cooper just exudes intimidation.

EL OW EL, this is a great article, way more interesting than slash film's. Really liked the part about Bond seducing a young boy/girl next door, perhaps the daughter of his nemesis?

Rob I can't believe that you think Kate Winslet could be a Bond Girl. Talk about taking the franchise to places it doen't need to go. Jarhead was total crap, hence why it tanked at the box office, not to mention the flaws in the story.

Mendes would not be a good mesh for Bond no matter how many dinners Craig had with him and Kate.

the bond depicted in ian fleming's novels is different (IMO better) to the bond seen in many of the films and I wonder if Mendes will better capture the essence of the original bond – kinda excited bout this though I did enjoy QoS as well.

I personally think this could be a great move! I think with the new era of Bond that we've been shown with Casino Royale and Quantum, it could be more feasible and plausible to have a more “thinking man's” Bond. I am not saying that he's inner-monologuing-it throughout, but a Bond that is more fully developed and has more substance as a human rather than a killing machine, may actually work.
