Exclusive: ‘Whip It’ Screenwriter Confirms Details
Movie News By J.L. Sosa on December 13, 2007 | (2) Comments
Screenwriter Shauna Cross has filled in some pieces of the Whip It puzzle.
Whip It, of course, is Drew Barrymore‘s forthcoming directorial debut, due out in 2008. It’s a coming-of-age tale about a girl who finds her identity through the power of roller derby.
In an e-mail to your humble Reject, Cross confirmed the action is set in Austin, Texas, and is an adaptation of the Cross’ recently published book, Derby Girl.
If other e-mails I’ve received are any indication, it looks like Whip It is generating some buzz among roller derby athletes.
Call me a fool, but I think this one has “instant classic” written all over it.
