I really want to like this. Ridley Scott is AWESOME as is Crowe but the trailer isn't doing much for me…

Foot soldiers used leather shields in those days. Only nobility could afford metal worked shields. So the shields’ “bendability” is perfectly authentic.

Errol Flynn wasn’t British and he was the best Robin Hood. Crowe is a much better actor than Costner so I don’t think his being Australian will be an issue.

I thought it was just meh. Did they take the stuff left over from Kingdom of Heaven and recycle the costumes? I’m not sure I can take another ‘serious historical drama/action’ flick anymore.

First of all, with the amount of times this material has been done (numerous movies, series both old and new) why even bother?

Yeh i know its a little different and concentrates more on the Crusades rather than Sherwood but still its not exactly original (but hey what is these days?)

Second of all, why have they got an Australian actor to play a british folk hero, they made the same mistake last time with Kevin Costner :(

Hopefully the movie turns out well, im guessing they will be putting out all the stops to try and pull in that Gladiator fan lore.

True, but I've seen better. I just didn't dig them. Watching the hd teaser trailer, they just looked really cheap. They don't have to be lavish, cloths were not at that time, that's not what I meant. I mean it looks like they could rip and tear any moment. I just think they look cheap.

I thought it looked terrific. And, speaking as another costume drama lover, the costumes are just fine and perfectly authentic ; the 12th century wasn't exactly known for lavish ballgowns.

Call me a traditionalist, or just plain narrow-minded, but Robin Hood with a sword, riding a horse and screaming bloody war feels a bit, erm, off? Definitely like the badassery, except for the thing with swordsies. Hmm..

Eh. I was excited to see the trailer but after watching, I don't really care anymore. I don't know. The trailer is not good. They are definitly going for a harder edge Robin and gang, clearly. I'm sure everybody went into it wanting to do a fresh take on a story that's been done a dozen times on film and in television. A bad trailer does not make for a bad movie, sometimes. The costumes looked awful, first thing I noticed. Being a costume drama whore, I mean lover, I always notice those things. On the plus, some very good actors are in it. Still early, still have more trailers to put out.

This is going to be a great film! Crowe, Scott and Blanchett all together in an epic film like this cannot go wrong!
