Rob Zombie: Dirty Cartoons and Leaked Horror Remakes
Movie News By Neil Miller on August 28, 2007 | (4) Comments
Perusing the web today I found all kinds of things Rob Zombie. Go figure, the guy’s latest flick, the series reboot of Halloween drops in theaters on Friday. First up, in regards to the flick, some unfortunate circumstances have occurred in that an unfinished workprint (pre-reshoots, I’m sure) has been leaked on several bit torrent sites. As Peter from /Film reports, the film could possibly suffer just like Eli Roth’s Hostel II did earlier in the year.
The problem that arose with Hostel II is that once folks online got a hold of the film, they realized that there was no need to go see it in theaters. Could Halloween be the next victim of sliding box office numbers at the hands of bootleggers? My theory is that no matter what, fans will go see a quality product no matter what. Disney’s Ratatouille was leaked online in the week leading up to the release yet still rolled to over $350 million in receipts. The real question is whether or not Zombie can deliver a quality product.
Speaking of a quality product from Mr. Zombie, he told the MTV Movie Blog that he is working on a new project. It will be an animated flick that he describes as “a superhero monster sex comedy” featuring the voices of anyone from Paul Giamatti to Danny Trejo. It is based on Zombie’s comic book, “The Haunted World of El Superbeasto”. “People are just not going to believe this movie exists. It’s so strange,” Zombie told MTV. “[It's a] filthy adult movie.” I’m down.
As for Halloween , it slashes its way into theaters this Friday.
