The Warriors is an awesome film!!!! I really do hope they keep the original gang member's names too lol the 1979 Warriors was cool because it had that funky music and amazing battles!!! Originally there was 9 Warriors but Tony Scott said there are 10 of them!!! I really can't wait to see it and finally hear Luther saying the famous line,” WARRIORS COME OUT TO PLAAAY!!!” GR8 STUFF!! BTW my favourite Warrior was probably Fox because he has an afro like me wooo

I have to agree with that, if you take the original characters and turn them into real gang members the white boys would be in the minority. Not to mention that todays technologies make it much simplier to be in touch with anyone in the world thru cell phones and the internet. Getting out of a section of New York wold not be the problem it was 30 years ago.

It was over the top, but, for the time it was made in not too much over. In 1979 gang violence was nothing like it is today. I know, I was involved in it.

I don't think they're calling the new karate kid movie 'karate kid' at all. as far as i know, its called 'the kung fu kid' and is similar but not really a remake. Thats probably the best way to approach something like the Warriors.

By the way I'll be bummed, if i dont hear, "Waaaaaarriooorrs… Come out to Play-yi-yay!!!!"

Ugh, this sounds absolutely terrible. Who's going to want to be in that theater showing a movie about real-life gangs? I guarantee there's going to be shootings at theaters showing this. The poor kid selling popcorn is going to get his ass kicked by the audience who is going to show up for this. I know, it's a dick thing to say, but you guys know this will happen.

Why a remake? Just make a sequel or a new movie all together. Although from that comment it kind of sounds like a new movie anyways. Personally I don’t want to have the same characters now in LA, it would make no sense. To me they should focus on just making a sweet gang style movie with the same kind of concept (gang stuck at point A needs to get to point B) but a new identity. Don’t just ride the Warriors name. Kind of like the Karate Kid remake could just be a “new” movie without having to destroy classics with remakes. Why not just use the same idea but avoid bring back characters and what not? But I’m just bitter because I don’t like the stupid amount of remakes coming down the pipe.

The warriors was nice because it is in the era before assault weapons and crack, now it would not be break dancers who fight with fists, it would be like training day with only the gang side of it. This idea is just to different from the original, I would call it something else, and not try to re-imagine it.
