‘Red Dawn’ Casts Two More to Yell “Wolverines!” On Mountain

Remember when we couldn’t stop talking about remakes because that’s all Hollywood was making? Me too. It was a Golden Age that seemed like it would never end that led to the year 2040 where Hollywood was only making remakes of films they’d already remade. If this is starting to sound like an M.C. Escher painting or a Charlie Kaufman script, it should. Because creativity is dead forever, and Hollywood is going to keep re-remaking the same stuff over and over.

On the plus side, it means we get to fight the Cold War again!

The Hollywood Reporter is Hollywood reporting that the production of Red Dawn has just added Adrianne Palicki and Josh Peck to the cast, ostensibly as Wolverines. Peck is taking Charlie Sheen’s role of Matt Eckert and Palicki will be taking Jennifer Grey’s role of Toni. Both are really scrappy characters and have to fight off Commies invading Spokane.

Fans will remember Palicki from “Friday Night Lights,” and I will remember her from the very awesome Women in Trouble (you can check out a sweet video interview that totally doesn’t have her in it here). She’s also on “Supernatural.”

Fans will also remember Josh Peck from when Reject Neil Miller gushed all over his performance in Disney Channel’s “Josh and Drake” and the excellent film The Wackness. (And then I interviewed him, but not in video format).

Fans will also also remember that this is Dan Bradley’s feature debut, but not his first turn at the rodeo as he did stunt coordination and second unit direction for The Bourne Ultimatum and Quantum of Solace.

Fans might also remember that this post is ending, so they need to move on to the next one.

Seriously – it’s over. Go home. Ferris Bueller reference anyone?

Adrianne Palicki will be awesome. Her role could have been straight up trailer trash on "FNL". Instead between the script and her brilliant acting we get a layered performance about a young woman who wants to avoid just that road.

And forget Josh Peck. Chris Hemsworth (Captain George Kirk) will be taking on the Patrick Swayze role! Great actor. Made ten minutes of screen time last in your mind until the end of "Star Trek".

First time I saw "Red Dawn" was at summer camp in 1998. They had 3 TVs hooked up to one VCR in the rec room. Two sat on the counter to the kitchen. We all sat on chairs and the floor and sat up at midnight watching it. I was like 10 or 11. Great flick. Can't wait to see what they do now. It will help heal the pains of losing "Jericho".

On that note, kudos to having the line in season 2 'This isn't Red Dawn!'
  • hope they at least maki it the chinese.
