Variety is reporting this evening that Rashida Jones, best known for her role on The Office and her current role on Parks and Recreation, has joined the cast of the David Fincher directed film The Social Network.

As you know, this is the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film that tells the story of the founders of Facebook, who will be played by Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield. Just yesterday, Dr. Cole Abaius reported that the film has set a release date of October 15, 2010.

There is no information on what role Jones will play in the pic, but we’re guessing that it’s a female of some kind. Probably a person who makes an appearance in the film’s source book, The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. Anyone care to speculate? I haven’t read the book, otherwise I would speculate the shit out of this one.

The Social Network is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Side Note: Even though I was always Team Pam and not Team Karen, I would still be Rashida Jones’ friend, should she send me a request… She seems personable.
