Punisher: War Zone’s Pervasive Violence Earns R Rating

The latest round of MPAA ratings has come through, and it appears that at least one of the most recent rumors from behind the production of Punisher: War Zone can be put to rest. The film, which was at one point being rumored as possibly going the way of PG-13, is to be rated R for ‘pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use.’
This should come as no surprise to anyone who saw the footage from Comic-Con, which was pretty R-rated in its own write. As well, we got the scoop back in mid-August that squashed the PG-13 rumors when they reared their ugly head. And now, thanks to the MPAA’s website, we have confirmation.
From where I’m sitting, this is great news for Punisher fans. Though most of the footage and trailers have looked bad, their saving grace is that the film appears to still be ultra-violent. The verdict is certainly still out, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
Would you have seen Punisher: War Zone if it had been cut down to a PG-13?
