When it comes to tracking the path to Oscar gold, your best bet is always going to be with the guilds (Producers, Directors, Actors, etc). The guilds are made up, for the most part, of voting members of AMPAS, giving them direct impact on how the Oscars might shake out. With that in mind, fans of The Dark Knight were pleased to find out that The Producers Guild of America (PGA) nominated it as one of the five best films of the year, right alongside Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Milk.

This is a good sign for The Dark Knight’s chances of getting a Best Picture nomination, though I would not be surprised to see a film such as Doubt or Revolutionary Road sneak in when push comes to shove. As well, you all know how I feel about Dexter, Mad Men and Weeds — once again it is great to see them getting continued recognition.
