Good point about the cinematography. I’d be interested to see a live action movie in 3D. I saw NOTLD-3D, but that was black and white, so the cinematography is, obviously, less noticeable. Add in the low budget of that film and everything was moderate gray tones.

I’m excited for Thomas Jane’s upcoming film “The Dark Country” which to my understanding will be 3D, Live Action, in Color. So that may give us a more accurate view of what this new 3D technology (its no longer red/green polarized) can do.

okay, peter filming the hobbit: good, two films: bad. 3D: Even worse!

I haven’t seen Beowulf or any 3D movies since our local imax closed a few years ago, but i still find the whole 3D thing a horrible, gimmicky way to ‘improve’ the theatrical experience. I still think anything in 3D just looks like shit and ruins the cinematography of a scene. Converting films to 3D is as blasphemous as converting B&W films to colour, or adding new effects to the star wars trilogy.

So no, im not happy with 3D, or splitting the hobbit (which, relative to the lord of the rings, is a very simple story) into two films which is a blatant move to make more films and more money, 1 film will be much more effective i assure you.
